Hercules is an 0-6-2T steam engine located behind the old visitor's center for the Rock of Ages quarry in Graniteville, VT. The weeds are getting high around this abandoned engine that served from 1912-1953.

Looks like she's still in great condition!

I'd be curious to know what the placard says about her...
Are there any plans for restoration, etc?

That looks too good to be stuck out in a field like that.

Looks to be in better shape than some of the examples at Steamtown....perhaps they should relocate.

looks to be in better shape than some of our active (mostly) suburban trains!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

The engine should be moved down the hill to the new Rock of Ages visitor's center but it would be costly which is why it remains behind the now closed former visitor's center which is next to an old quarry. The engine is on rails, but there are no tracks leading into that area anymore. Rock of Ages had been shipping stone by rail to an Army Corp of engineers project in Okeechobee, FL but that venture has been put on hold. There were cars stored in the old Bombardier manufacturing plant (where the Acela was built), not far from the quarries.

The placard is below. No plans for restoration, only to move it to the new visitor's center down the hill.

Too bad about no restoration plans, though I'd hope she'll at least
be kept up after the move.

Thanks for the follow-up!

Return visit and the engine is in worse shape than when I found it 8 years ago. The placard with the information is now missing from the side of the engine. A repeat of the original photo was impossible as a tree now blocks the front of the engine.
