A perfect shot missed due to excessive chimping...at least 1 person out of 4 got the shot.

That looks like it's the aftermath...the blue car looks to be doing a burn out before rejoining the race. Whatever happened has happened.
My guess is that they've already got the shot and what's happening in front of them is insignificant to what's already occured.
Either that or their lens length is too long to be able to get anything useful.
Too many times have I had on a 300mm when something has happened right in front of me and it's just been too much glass.
Although it does look like a couple of them are using fairly short glass, so my original scenario is most likely

Edit...looks like you missed it too - hahaha

Nope....they did miss it (I know them both and good-naturedly razzed them about it). The 05 car cut a tire and spun & slid right up to the wall right in front of them and got 'em pretty good with grass and mud.

...and no I didn't miss it, I just didn't post the entire sequence. Yeah, the photos are cluttered with people, but that wasn't the primary location I was shooting anyway. I just happened to catch the start of it out of the corner of my eye.

lol, I use my dad's old SLR (film type) no preview, no chimping, but loose time while winding the film for the next shot!

Haha...fair enough. I would have done the same thing too.
Looks like it was reasonably harmless and inconsequential anyway.

Ooops....about now, I'm removing my size 8 foot from my size 6 mouth - hahaha.

LOL! Nice catch  Yeah, that's why you never chimp when there's even a remote chance of something happening.
