I just picked up this lens the other day from a POTN member and I am fricken floored by this lens... did a portrait shoot yesterday where I'm normally bouncing between my 50mm, 85mm and 70-200.. and all of them stayed in the bag... loving this lens.

You'll probably get over it soon and want to start using the 50 and 85mm, too, but the 30mm is very good. Not the best tight portrait lens, though.

You'll love it. :)

What I've found is that it gives a unique lens that no other lens can produce SOOC. It gives a slightly desaturated, vignetted, moody feel to it. In a good way. ;)

I just did a shoot with some friends around downtown St. Augustine and brought the 85mm just in case, but this one stayed on the whole time. I love it :)

I just ordered one too, cant wait to get it! I have been using the 50 1.8 all the time, but its just a bit too long for indoor family photos, I think the 30 will be great.

You should! The 30mm is even sharper with flash.

Hmmm ... I keep reading people raving about the Sigma 30mm. I currently have the Canon 35mm f/1.4 and these threads make me want to sell it and get the Sigma instead. Extra money in pocket = future upgrades.

I just picked up the Sigma 30mm last week. This lens does things that none of my others can. Dusk in downtown St Augustine with no flash produced some amazing shots.

If this were strictly for portraits, I would have to use a 50mm on a crop. This is great for full body pics, not ao great for face only.

Congrats. It is a great lens. I picked one up a couple of weeks ago, and have really been impressed with it. I only wish I had got it sooner. It is just soooo sharp and easy to use. Please start posting some pics once it arrives, either here or on the lens sample archive thread.
