I tried this morning. A bit hazy though, could only see a few dozen stars with naked eye. Got this one lucky shot. Only saw half a dozen reasonably bright meteors, and a dozen VERY faint ones, viewing for about an hour. The photo isn't spectacular, but its my first. Will try tomorrow morning around 5am.

edit: Added 100% crop

8/12/10 -- 4:27:38am EST.

1d4,35mm,f/1.4,15 sec, iso-800.

Cracker! Lovely clear star field too, unlike my cloudy efforts!

I'm pretty fresh to recognizing galaxy's and what not, but is that Andromeda in the middle of your frame, or just a blurred star? I didn't figure it would be that big @ 35mm but this may be a cropped image as well. Great shot btw.

Thanks,
After two more attempt, last night, and this morning, I really feel fortunate to have this capture. Thursday night, Fri morning was suppose to be peak, but I really didn't see much, not nearly as active as early Thursday morning. And, Fri morning, the haze was lower, so light pollution was more noticeable.

Not sure on the galaxy, I don't think its a fuzzy star, it looked just like that in every pic, and it could be Andromeda. The image in post one, is uncropped at 35mm (on a 1d4, so 45.5mm equiv). I updated the post and added a 100% crop.

Here I attached Thursday nights only hit, a much smaller meteor.

Nice - you captured a meteor zipping near Andromeda :D

You're so lucky to have clear skies free of light pollution :(
Nice capture.

One last quick try tonight yielded a few small streaks, this was the best of.

Nice catches. I see you had airplane issues too. :) I couldn't keep them out of frame either. Here's one that was a real menace. Meteor strike is the little tick right of center. I don't think I need to point out the Jet. :) This was at 85mm.

Great shots guys.

I witnessed the best Perseid "shower" I've ever seen on Thursday night, including several ridiculously bright and long trails. (I missed one meteor as I had my back to it, but it actually lit the ground up all around!!) Stupidly, I forgot my camera tripod. That wasn't the worst...I forgot a memory stick as well!!! AGGHH!!
