And holy crap 135 f/1.4L. What would something like that cost anyway?

It's about the same amount of glass, weight, and front element diameter as the 300mm f/2.8,. so about $4k...

The 400 mm f/5.6L updated with IS is long overdue. Being able to use this lens hand-held in less-than-optimal lighting every once in a while would be really helpful. If they could keep the price under $1,600, the wildlife photo community would be all over it.

They have one better than that now. 100-400L

Imagine if Canon broke the f2.8 barrier on a zoom. 24-70mm f2.5 L IS would draw a LOT of buzz, wouldn't it? Or maybe a 35-70 f2.0 IS! :)

There are zoom lenses less than f/2.8, just not for Canon cameras.

Yeah, I knew that. But those are f4 equivalent zooms in reality. There are also f1.3 zooms for camcorders. I'm talking full frame.

But they only need to cover the much smaller 4/3s sensor (half the size of Canon's FF sensors)

Half the diagonal, but 1/4 the area! :)

I'm just thinking a wedding photograph would LOVE even a very short zoom faster than f2.8. Might even make some Noinks switch teams.

Wow, thanks for that. There I go again, dreaming out of my price range.

...I'd probably rent one for a weekend though.

Bigger and heavier than the Brick? - we will call it the Rock

I'd call it The Boulder instead tbh, brick > rock in my book.

As good as the 100-400L is, it's not as sharp as the 400 f/5.6 wide open and, most importantly, doesn't AF moving subjects as well.
