Anyone who has this lens can you comment on the image quality and autofocus. I'm really tempted to purchase this lens over the 17-55 IS. I've owned two copies of the 17-55 now and both have had something wrong with them. Whether it be a soft focus issue or a faulty IS system.

If you have any sample picture it would be greatly appriciated! I'm rather excited by the few reviews i have read on this lens.

The talk of extreme border softness has me concerned, but I am very interested in this lens. Can't wait for more formal tests...
