These are from the stands, I had no pass to speak of. The noise and crops made me be a bit creative with my editing. If you would like to see more they are up on my site, I hope you enjoy the shots.

Michael

By the way, I really found that I enjoyed shooting skateboarding any suggestions as to where would be a nice place to start off in southern California? I am finding the tournaments to be a bit strict as to who is allowed to shoot. Btw I do have a lot of experience when it comes to shooting sporting tournaments in the form of paintball for about 8 years.

Nice stuff man, I'd suggest just talking with some of the homies down there and checking your resources, I'm sure you can find some pretty solid skaters to shoot if ya just ask around. Shooting sessions is way more fun than just an event anyways!

Trust me these are severe crops (most) I was shooting with a Canon 5d Mark II and a 70-200mm 2.8f in RAW so I had a ton of dead space. What amazed me was that I was able to actually hit my focus point over 90% of the time (the 5d m2 is not as good at tracking as my 1d M2 that I use for sports).

Most of the photos I took without the net was durring practice when I was able to go up to the net to shoot. I think you will be able to tell right away if I was close or farther away from the action.

Composition is a bit tight... at least include a bit of the ramp so you can see how big they are going.
