How easy/difficult is shooting this event? How easy is it to get near a pylon to shoot? I've seen some pictures from that area, but most from the pit area. I hope I can go one year!

Quite easy to shoot from both spots - there are some pylons that are easier to get to that are near main roads that if you know your way around, you can find, but most of them are restricted.

All the pylons are restricted to press only. From the pits and outside the fence, (Placerville Road is where you want to be), you will get the bottoms of airplanes. These shots are from the cul de sac at the end of Placerville Road.
