I ordered some new equipment. I'm excited to get it and it should be here Monday. I am getting:

Sigma 500 DG Super flash
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens
3 GB Microdrive (I started shooting RAW and my 256Mb card just doesn't cut it!)
Stroboframe folding flip flash bracket
Canon off camera shoe cord
An extra BP-511 battery (generic brand)

I can't wait to get these things. Thanks to all of the posts here, I was able to make an educated decision on what I should get based on the kind of photography that I do. So I'd like to thank all of you that contribute to such a wonderful source of information!

Sorry... just wanted to share!

Thanks!
- Tom

Congratulations :D

You will love working with the EF 50 f/1.8 MKII. Infact you may love it so much you will end up buyin the EF 50 f/1.4 or even the famous EF 50 f/1.0 L
This lens is so sharp stopped down to 2.

Welcome to the world of MD! Moving up from a 256MB to a 3GB will make you wonder how you ever shot without several gigs (in one) worth of memory. Thats about 1300 pictures in one shooting (non-RAW).

I've had my eye on that flash for a while, contemplating between it and the 580EX. I dont know my own flash needs yet.

You can never have too much memory or too many batteries!!

Whats the Stroboframe folding flip bracketr for? I did a search on it but was not very useful.

Saif,

Here is a link to the folding flip flash bracket (external link). Brackets are used to get the flash higher above the camera.

Congratulations on on all of your new toys!

Does the flash bracket you ordered allow you to shoot portrait with the flash on top of the camera? I was thinking of getting myself one, but I want to be able to switch from landscape to portrait and still have my flash up top so I don't get side shadows.
