The 70-200mkii is a great lens and if you find that at 135mm it's close enough to the 135/2 then by all means do it. I have both 5d models and the old 5d "classic" is adequate for me. I too am considering getting rid of the mkii as I don't need all the resolution and ISO1600 on the classic is good enough.I'd say rent the 70-200mkii and if it you like it on the 5dii then you should like it on the classic provided you aren't always shooting at high ISO. Primes are great but if you need the convenience of a zoom then I'd go for the swap.

Thanks. I'm definitely renting the 70-200mkii this month. If I like it so much and see the IQ difference between that and the 135L is not that much, Ill compromise whatever little edge the 135L has over 70-200mkii in terms of IQ for the sake of versatility, then I'll make the jump or not...

Just adding more food for thought. Resalve values for lenses are far better than bodies. If you downgrade to 5dc and invest in glass, you will have a less of a hit when you sell it down the road.
Once 5d3 comes out, both the classic and mk2 will take a price hit.

I never understand choosing primes or zooms. Both have a place. I would not sell the 135. You obviously love it but I understand the frustration. I love primes but lately I have been using more zooms because I hate missing shots to swap lenses. I say look to ad a used 70-200 2.8 non is zoom to your existing kit or an 85 1.8. Both are great

Looking forward to your report. I do have 135L and 70-200mm f2.8 IS version 1.

I'd make that trade. But if you feel limited, I'd think about buying a few inexpensive primes, just as others suggested.
