lol, thanks. yeah I recognize this because of the issues with my Cactus v4 set. their on switch is on the top next to where the flash sits, I now keep a few paper clips in the side pockets of my bag so that I can flip the switches on and off. without having to remove the strobe when I'm taking a brake form shooting but don't want to tear down my setup.

But the Cactus V4 only has a switch, not a screen or other buttons.

I'll be reading through that thread this afternoon though. Thanks for the link! Much appreciated.

Yeah, you can tell professional photographers did not help design these products.

i know right... WTH.... these controls should be put on the side of the units... it's not like it would have increases the costs of the devices...

But then again it falls to the... I didn't have to pay out the rear for it because they didn't paid some guy thousands to come in and consult with them... lol.

If I remember correctly, RP require a flash connected on top of the unit in order to control TTL. That sort of defeats having an off camera flash. If I were going to do that, I might as well just keep my 580exII on the camera as a master and use my other 580exII and 420ex as slaves. It will save me the money of buying an RP.

I just wanted to hopefully clarify this (at least for myself).
Considering remote ETTL on Canon, the RP PX transmitter and the PW TT5/TT1 transmitters don't require a master/commander 580ex/ii flash to be on the camera?
Is that because the transmitter is "acting like" the master flash and gets all of the ETTL settings from the camera and sends it out to the , or does it need to read the light pulses from the popup flash on the new 7D, 60D and T3i that provide wireless remote ETTL flash built into the camera?
