Be carefull... there are some of these drives that are out there that have crippled firmware making ti so they will NOT work in any camera... (they were designed to work in portable MP3 players etc..)

On other hand I have two of these drives that do work in cameras... including the 20D no problem.

Now the specs in the E-bay add say this one IS compatible with the CF interface.. but I would suggest getting one from a place you know you can return it...

I can confirmed that CDS says above. Even I can be more specific:

The 4 Gb Hitachi 3K4-4 Model: HMS360404D5CF00 , P/N: 13G1766 If you look in the compatibility list from Hitachi at:

http://ssddom01.hgst.com …6de9005334e6?OpenDocument (external link)

you can see that says it´s compatible and you can think so...

BUT IT IS NOT USABLE IN DIGICAM & even PDA´s. I have received this confirmation from Hitachi Support:

"Thank you for contacting our support center.

The Microdrive in your possession was sold to a computer/third-party
manufacturer to be implemented into their products. This means, this
product can only be used with the therefore designed product, as it
contains certain manufacturer specific changes. Any other use of this
Microdrive is not supported by the third-party manufacturer, nor by
Hitachi. If you have any warranty or technical issues, please contact your
reseller or manufacturer of the device.
That the microdrive works in other devices is pure luck".

This one works OK with PC´s. So you must be very carefully when buy from E-Bay this MD, as CDS states ...

Good luck

Cheers
Juan

Even if it does work, I have been told by a couple of profs that microdrives break easily. CF memory cards should be much more reliable. All solid memories are better than microdrives, because there are no mechanical parts moving in it. I had a usb memory pen go through two cycles in my washing machine, (I forgot it in my jeans), and not only it still worked, but it still held the data!

Here in the UK a TV programme took various storage media and

- Froze them with liquid nitrogen
- Drove over them in a car
- Blew them from a cannon
- Baked them in an oven
- I forget the rest

The USB memory stick was the only one that still had the data on it (a JPG) at the end (even though they had to solder another USB connecter onto the PCB after the cannon)
