My brother and his wife and three kids came down from Oregon to visit. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend lots of time with them, and got some great shots of them. Here are a few for you to enjoy; and I realize that some of them are not technically great (the lighting), but I just loved the expressions in these.

Kayla is 4 going on 35. Jonathan is 5 1/2, and all boy...and Mayah, the baby, is 15 months (she's in the next post).

Enjoy!

Best-
Noni

These are great Noni, I love the expressions in all of them, they have a spontaneity about them. Your technical precision will improve the more you shoot, you already have a good 'eye' for a shot and composition looks good.

Thanks, Roger. I'm still befuddled about lighting in the shadows, but that will come in time. Couldn't do a darned thing about the water...to be able to get the sun in his face, I would've had to be on the other side of him, and that meant...into the ocean w/ the 20d. Not too likely LOL! as I was already panicky about having it on the beach!

I had lots of fun shooting the kids - they're so hard to get to "pose." And Miss Mayah with her tongue - she's recently discovered it, and out it comes at a moment's notice. She even licked her Grampa, who thought that was "odd..."

LOL, I just love 'em. Thanks for looking, and thanks for the compliment. I am doing my best to learn. There's just so much to remember!

Noni

That second picture's just gorgeous, such an expression on such a young face always amuses me, definitely a winner. Also like the capture of the moment in the first picture - very good timing. Well done.

Thanks, LastLine...Kayla loves to be in front of - and behind - the camera. We had a good time sitting on the grass on the back lawn. She takes direction well (she was wishing she was a fairy in that shot), and gives direction well, too...she got to take some shots of me, and made me think of being a fairy, as well. I didn't get the right look on my face, though, so she told me to pretend to be a horse. She's 4.

LOL!!!

And the water shot - I saw the wave coming, and just hit the shutter when it got him on the back of his head. His Dad is right next to him but out of frame, in case Jonathan went under.

Thanks for looking, you all!

Best-
Noni
