The newly restored 1950s Douglas DC-7B in Eastern Air Lines colors, N836D, was visiting TEB/Teterboro Airport, Teterboro, NJ this past weekend. It was a beautiful day with mostly sunny skies and very comfortable temperatures. Here are a couple of shots of this beauty taking off and landing. The sound of those four big piston engines roaring in unison was a thing of power, grace, human engineering, and pure horsepower! Loved it!

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone! I'll post a few more tomorrow. I was using Tv Mode and 1/200th second to get that nice prop blur!

Here's another shot of the DC-7B landing on Rwy 19 at TEB with the historic old control tower in the background.

Those are perfect!

I love the "prop blur" when you can kinda tell the number of props... ;)

Since you asked, here are a few more pictures of this beauty. Some belly shots of her passing overhead on departure. I was impressed at the speed of the DC-7! Fast on climbout and fast on final approach.

Way, way, way below MGW will usually allow for better performance...

Nice Series. Saw this old gal at OSH. Beautiful restoration job.

Thanks Jay! I was checking out your OSH shots just now. Fantastic work. One day I'll have to make it out there and see it for myself.

The DC-7, even at a lighter gross weight, didn't clear the approach lights and buildings at the far end of the runway by much altitude! I wish I was there on the 15th, Sunday, when she departed for the four hour flight home to OPF. I'm sure it was a bit more sporting than the TO for a one hour local sightseeing flight.
