No I don't have the latest i7, water cooled monster with dual SLI cards, etc. But...

Recently I purchased at HP 6510f quad core with 4GB of memory. Add to that an inexpensive Asus GT240 card and most gamers would laugh.

What did I get for my $520us?

Old computer took 15 hours to make a 1280x720 HD 2 hour movie (Athlon 64 3200+) That would be 0.14X movie speed. It also read my compact flash at about 4MB/s.

New computer took 1:07 hours to make same movie (PowerDirector 8) with hardware acceleration. This baby is reading my compact flash at over 26MB/s, what a difference.

This included transistions (also accelerated by PD8) and corrections.

That would be nearly 2X movie speed to 1280x720. How does your computer stack up to this?

Computer: AMD Athlon IIx4 630 at 2.8Ghz
Memory: 4GB 1066
Windows Experience Index: 5.9 due to hard disk speed.
Program: Power Director 8
Measure: 2HR 1280x720 in 1:07
CF Read: 26MB/s

Didn't DwightMcCann build/finish a computer this weekend.
