My not so ambitious lens wish list as of now for my 50D is:

Canon 10-22
Canon 24-105
Canon 70-200 F4 IS
and maybe later on a Bigma

But right now I can't afford all of them, so I was thinking of getting the Canon 10-22 plus a Canon 55-250 for now to complement the 28-135 kit lens. I know the 55-250 isn't great but I recently gave a old Tamron 28-200 I had to my uncle and miss the range. Also I want the 10-22mm because the 28mm is definitely not wide enough, and I've thought about the Tamron 17-50 but I want to try something wider.

I know the 55-250 isn't going to compare to the 70-200 but im pretty certain that it should be better that my old Tamron 28-200 and I got some pictures I like from it:

I'd get the 70-200 f/4L non IS. It's sharper, and from what you posted you shoot outside.

I'd go with the 15-85mm over the 10-22/24-105 combo.

At first I was leaning towards the non-IS 70-200 f4 because of the price of course, but I thought I read somewhere that the f4 IS was substantially sharper, could have read wrong though.

I'd forgotten about that great lens 15-85 + 70-200 non-IS is doable in the near future. If I want something wider down the road I could try a Tokina 11-16 :)

i like your ideal lens lineup. maybe a 100-400 would have less overlap and more range.

I've owned the 70-200 IS twice and have used a 70-200 non IS and have "heard" the IS version is sharper. The IS version is the one you want along with a 17-55 IS, get these two lenses for a great starter crop kit.

Mike

PS: I'd sell the 28-135

I currently have both the IS and non-IS versions of the 70-200mm f.4. The non-IS was one of my sharpest and most versatile lenses and couldn't bring myself to part with it after getting the IS version.

After using the IS lens I now feel ok about selling the original 70-200mm L lens. Can't tell any difference between the two lenses. Except of course the IS can at times help with camera shake but the non-IS is really pretty good w/o it.

I use the 10-22mm on my 40D occasionally and the 24-105 is on my 5D2 much of the time. Can't go wrong with any of these.

I ended up buying the 15-85, I was still thinking about it and then I went to best buy (wasn't planning on buying anything) and walk over to the camera area, I looked at where they put the lenses (I never do) and I see a lone 15-85 box. When I got closer it had a open item tag, I looked at the price and it was $480 so I bought it. It was meant to be.

Also I bought a 580ex II
