After promising to have it out yesterday, I called and they said they would overnight it today. It says "warehoused" now. hopefully thats a step forward rather than backwards.

IMG says zero.

I had to set the date & time, there's a plastic protector on the LCD screen, not a scratch on it the body. Battery was 85% charged. Accessories all brand new looking.

Wish I can see the actual shutter count but no mainstream s/w available to read the 7D that I could find. Just out of curiosity it would be neat to know.

The only CF card I have right now is a 256mb from a really old digital (bought about 10 years ago). Until my new whiz-bang cards come (tomorrow) in I get a whole 6 shots RAW.

Yep, on a 256 megabyte (not gigabyte) card, that's it.
MRAW gets me 10
SRAW = 16
JPEG Large = 31

7d is 18.

1d4 and 5D2 raws seem to rarely pass 30mb, just was wondering why the 7d was putting out 40+mb ones.

For a 18 MP RAW pic I just shot Windoz say it's a 29.8 mb file and I have 219 MB left of free space on the card. Shows a total capacity of 249 mb on the card. I formatted the card in camera prior to using.

You'll get by for a little while. Here's a quick ref chart as per Sandisk's I found on the Extreme 60mb/s for estimated capacity on their various size cards.

Raw File Size: 10mb, 14mb, 18mb, 24mb
4 gig capacity: 320, 240, 180, 130 (# of shots stored).
8 gig capacity: 640, 480, 360, 260
16 gig capacity: 1280, 960, 720, 520
32 gig capacity: 2560, 1920, 1440, 1040
64 gig capacity: 5120, 3840, 2880, 2080

Just got my 5DII!! Shutter count @ 125. Phew!!
Last year when I got my refurb 50D it already had 7k actuations

Now I'm gonna sell my 50D with roughly 23k actuations. Do you think $700 is a reasonable price?

Price depends on the model (see below), and no one is giving you anything since no cash is returned back to you.

Here's another comparison - Canon's selling a refurb 7D body for $1119.20 w/90 warranty. Adorama's listing same for $1,399.00 with a 1 year warranty. Adorama sounds like the better deal, but if going through Canon, that's a $279.80 discount. My guess is Adorama is using the same warranty service they sell to fix their customer's refurbs, so with the remaining savings through the CLP one could by a 3 year warranty for $165. That gets you a longer coverage period and a few bucks left over in your pocket to have a nice dinner out with your significant other and your two kids.

where did you (or can you) get the 3 yr warranty for $165? my local camera shop has a 3 yr diamond mack warranty for $250!!

That is what I was planning on asking for my 50D, maybe $750 just to see if it happens.
Congrats on 5DII. I keep second guessing if I should have just went for it with the 5DII... Hopefully the 7D makes me forget about FF.

wow 7k! I thought they would all be relatively low(under 5k). I might be a little pissed if I get some 9k camera. Is there a max they allow?
