There was a time when Nikon were considered to be better at the shorter focal lengths and Canon the long stuff. Has this changed over time? I know Nikon top end glass is expensive. But Canon "L" glass is not cheap.

The 24L II is a lot cheaper than 24 f/1.4G. The 70-200 IS II price has been dropping slowly lately.

haha not really, I am excited about the 24-120mm though :)

I could switch to any brand... specially back to Canon if they ever get to release something like the D700 (small body with good AF/FF/Build) and I want to shoot longer than 200mm :)

The Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 is the nicest lens I've ever used ... Canon or Nikon.
