Dad gave the go ahead. Pinestone color, R10. R30's too wide, and he says R20 will look too tall for me. Besides, I don't really need the 70-200 to be mounted. If I want a grab and go lens, it's the 16-35mk2.

Thanks guys! Gonna go to my local store at the end of the month when I get my allowance. I also got a sweet SGD50 (35USD) store voucher to offset the purchase.

Tommy how did you like the UD35? Why did you change it out?
I'm currently using a d300s and 2 lenses (18-200VR and 70-300VR) I leave my flash and 50/1.4 at home.
I used to use a d80 with a grip; concerned that I might buy a bag, then a grip .... and need a bigger bag.
FWIW I'm a happy Canon G user. 9/11/11

Yes I did like the UD 35, it made a great bag for travel and for transporting gear but it felt a little like walking around with luggage. One advantage all the UD bags have over the Retro bags when it comes to shooting out of is the dividers, I was able to pretty much drop my camera right down and it fit nicely. In the retro bags the dividers seem to flop around and the camera does not sit up like it did in the UD bags. Part of that is the deeper design and since I don't use a grip I find the camera works best turned to the side. Overall both bags are excellent but I find the R-10 more useful.

The Urban Disguise are great bags too, I have a UD 40 which is my main walkabouts bag. I've been using it for 3 years now and it's still looking fresh

Thanks Gareth & Tommy.
I'm currently using a Stealth 300 and 2 Domke bags. Just bought a Miata and space is at a premium.
Henry's still has the UD bags going the rounds. They don't have the Retro series anywhere nearby. And the Retro series are horribly expensive there, at their Toronto east store. (too far away.)
BTW I don't like the Stealth to work out of. It's a storage bag for me.
I took it to Newfoundland for an 8 day drive-around (Porsche then); Camera stayed in that bag and I used my G9 mostly.
Thanks!

The ud40 is very nice too. Like the 35 just turned on it's side.

Thanks Tommy. One of the real weaknesses for me is the strap on a bag.
I hate it when I have to hold it with one hand to keep it from falling off my shoulder. 3 seasons of the year I wear coats here. And some are slippery...so one hand is tied up.
Frequently I find myself changing the strap on a bag. So...the comments on the strap on the Retro bags being so good is interesting.
That's why I haven't ordered a bag from Adorama or whoever...at US prices.
The UD 35 has a different strap from the 30, I believe. I don't know about the UD40 strap.
I don't need a new bag. Just want one. ;)

The 40 and 35 have the same shoulder strap which is nicely padded, the 30 has a slimmer strap but still decent, not great but really no shoulder bag will be very comfortable with 10 pounds of gear. I was carrying my golf clubs the other day and realized its not much heavier then my camera bag fully loaded. Would you ever walk around town with a golf bag? haha.

That's quite true. But would you walk around all day with the R10? ;)

Probably not, when I am just out and about I usually only have 1 or 2 lenses and a flash and I use lighter bags for that.

Thanks Tommy.
A poster elsewhere (pro shooter) recommended TT's belt packs.
I have the world's largest belt pack (LowePro) and it's very awkward to shoot out of. Had it a long time. Skied Vail; F3+MD; 80-200/2.8; 35-105
It was heavy and awkward. A lifetime ago. ;)
Finding the right bag is magic...

I have both UD 40 & 35. THe shoulder straps are different. The 35's has a narrower shoulder pad, The 40 has the same strap as the UD50 and it's wider.

If carrying a lot of gear , I find that the wider strap of the 40 distributes the weight more. Looks like I will likely be using the UD40 Strap on my 35.

Then again, I've just gotten a Retrospective 20. That will see more action during the weekends
