Ok i did a search for SDHC and read up on what others have asked.. more on speed.. class 6 or 10, etc..

but my question is different.. I always go big.. so 32gb sdhc (64gb sdxc is out of my price range and also the next step in the price jump)

i usually look at what you get and find the price break.... but i was talking to someone and he said on hs 50D he uses 1 - 8gb and 8 - 1gb cards.. that is what he carries.. now..

1. he mentioned that if you use too large of a card and take alot of pics quickly... you have to wait longer to shut the camera off or you could loose the pics... is that true?

2. is 32gb class 10 sdhc like buying a high end sports car where the speed limits are 55mph???? i figure i will be taking the pics off the camera after we go out.. wife will still most likely use her p&s camera... ill use mine for "those" shots or small video....

i prefer Patriot memory in my computers so im looking at

No. How long you have to wait depends on the buffer size of your camera (how much data is waiting to be written to the card) and the speed of the card (how fast can that date be written), not its size.

Yes. Your camera's manual will specify at what rate pictures (or video) is being written to the card. Buying a faster card will offer no advantages, other than perhaps being able to copy them to your computer faster, if your card reader supports those higher speeds.

do you feel from your personal experience that a 32gb is just too big? after rebate that is $90 (patriot from above)... vs $65ish other class 6 cards... i dont see 16gb as too much cheaper... seems the speed makes them a bit more...

No personal experience as I never went any bigger than 8GB, even with my 5D2's 20+ MB file sizes. But then again, I don't shoot video (not much anyway) nor do I "spray & pray", so YMMV.

The most heard argument against larger capacity cards is when they fail, you'll lose more images than you would with several smaller cards.

I never like to put all my eggs into one basket since there's always that risk of failure, no matter which brand card. I have several 8 gb cards. It's no big deal to change out a card once one gets full. Just keep an eye on the pic count in the LCD. When you start to get close to full then swap it out.
