didnt see anything like this so thought id share....

Ok so back in the day if you wanted something you went to the store and got it..
however with the internet you can shop anywhere....
i live in NJ so have to pay 7% sales tax... unless order online where there is no dropship zones and i dont have to pay that sales tax (drop zone like newegg does so i pay even online for tax from them)

so still usually i go to the store to physically see or feel the item.. then purchase online and know what im getting

i thought i found the best deal on my t2i online... my boss found the t1i for $585 shipped.. and the t2i was $819 shipped....
www.fumfie.com (external link)

he purchased.. they sent him an email saying to call to verify purchase due to credit card fraud.... so he called...and the guy tried getting him to buy so much stuff...
well he said no.. then they said... it is free shipping but $40 for insurance... he said.. cancel my order.. the guy was like..well you are a new customer so tell you what.. ill cut that down to $20.. he repeated.. cancel my order.. they said.. well tell you what for being a new customer.. we will throw the insurance in for you... he got his camera and is happy with it..

me.. i ordered the t2i for $819 from them on friday evening.. had to wait till monday to call them.... they wouldnt do it.. they wanted $69 insurance.. told him no cancel my order and he said he could do 1/2 of it.... he wouldnt budge so i told him i would check around and if not place my order...

found another place
http://bestpriceelectronics.com …18408c83bda55862fadf5cb9e (external link)

wow same price but free
tripod
case
screen protector
fibrecloth
lense cleaning kit
memory card wallet
now i know all that is gonna be junk but it is the same price as the other and these are free...

so i ordered it... yesterday.. got an email today to call them... crap again?!?!?!?!
so i do.. guy tries so bad to get me to buy accessories..
told me the oem battery is a 20 minute battery and he recommends the 4hr battery with quick charger.. the kit he was trying to sell me he said retails at his compeditors for $319... WTF!!!!! he could do $285... I said no.. back and forth... he went to $205, $180, $125.. I said no.... then he said total was $845.. I was like WHY!!!!! he said insurance... cmon guys this should be illegal to post free shipping and charge insurance.. i told him no and told him i cancelled with fumfie for this crap.. he said.. tell you what if he sends me a link and i fill it out and give them 5 stars.... he would trow in the battery kit.... sure... so $845 and my camera is on its way...

oh also the free shipping was 7-9 business days.... but he bumped the shipping up so he says... will see...

this by far has been the worst deal for me trying to get an item.... and everyone else is worried about the ebay scams... everything else is a scam it seems.... grrrrrrrrrrr

I only buy from known dealers like B&H and Adorama.
I have never ONCE been screwed over by either.

from now on, check resellerratings.com before you buy from anyone. There are a lot of bait and switch companies out there.

Some reliable sellers:

b&h
adorama
J&R

There are many, many threads on this same issue. The reputable dealers that are always recommended on this forum are Adorama, B&H, and KEH. I've followed the advice here, and I have not had a bad experience buying anything. There is even an Adorama employee who comments on these boards quite often.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Stick to the reliable dealers in the future.

BH and Adorama for me. The places you mention likes to break the kit apart and sell it separately. They entice you with a lower price but in the end you pay more.

That's why it's better to buy for $899 from B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …OS_Rebel_T2i_Digital.html (external link))

Free shipping is "Free Shipping" and no hard sell... Worth $50 for me...
Ship to Jersey from New York (I buy all the time), UPS ground = Next Day, and no sales tax.

This is a VERY common bait and switch scam. We see new users here posting and asking about these sellers all of the time. You should have checked reseller ratings before going ahead with the purchase. Another part of the scam is that they will continually tell you that your item is on back order after they've charged your credit card. It's possible that you won't see your new camera for months.

I agree with the repeating going on here; only rock Adorama and BH.

Also always look for reviews online about stores you don't know about; there are other people out there who have been scammed before that will give you warnings.

Stick to B&H or Adorama with your big ticket items. A lot of these online shops offering great prices are a scam to have you purchase extra things like batteries or a warranty that they say don't come with the camera. Also, a lot of them are selling grey market goods.

+1. Spending to much time researching the gear, and not the retailer is generally a recipe for big headaches and not so much (if any) money saved.

B&H, Adorama, reputable POTN seller, or nothing.

I would have purchased the camera's from Canon authorized dealers to ensure I got a USA valid guarantee. I don't see Fumfie or Bestpriceelectronics on the Canon list.

But I guess you knew you were possibly buying "gray" market bodies.

What everyone else said. I had one bad experience with B&H. I fussed about it on an outdoor photography site and the Customer service manager was all over it.

If you shout about Adorama on a photography site, Helen will have the problem fixed before the echo dies down.

grey market would be a canon kiss then right?
if this is not a kiss... then it should be good? im going to call canon once i get it to make sure the serial is legit....
also not all vendors list every possible mom and pop shop too whom can sometimes be cheaper for not having a store front.....

i buy from small stores all the time.. i bought a crafting machine for my wife.. the cricket or something like that.. got it for $125 cheaper than anyone else.. mainly the guy said he works from his house and has everything in his garage.. he is an authorized dealer too.....

we will see...

now that you said grey body... i hear of the grey market... are the "WHITE" lenses truely white or a grey color? my neighbor has a canon lense and when i looked at it last night it was grey to me... but he kept saying it was a white lense.. the L series...
