Ok folks, I am posted a couple before and after images of my attempt at HDR.

Also, the last image is just a regular PP'ed image that I really like and wanted to know what you all thought of it.

Thanks for any and all input! The program I used was PhotoMatrix.

Actually on the bird I prefer the non-hdr version, to much saturation on the HDR version. The second set looks better..doesnt look so lifeless & dull..

EOS 6d, 7dMKII, Tokina 11-16, Tokina 16-28, Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8, Sigma 17-50 F/2.8, Canon 24-70mm F/2.8L, Canon 70-200 F/2.8L, Mixed Speedlites and other stuff.

When it ceases to be fun, it will be time to walk away

I think the wood HDR looks better than the bird HDR.

The bird HDR looks like its over saturated.

Been there, done that got the rosy cheeks from my potn. Sadly like my own efforts, the saturation is a little too high and in the first you've lost detail, rather than gained it. The wood one is a bit more restrained but still carries that hdr weird colour pallette that is a hallmark of this sotware. The berries look good but a little more sharpening is required. Great bokeh.

I think you're missing the point of High Dynamic Range... for #1, the dynamic range of each is very similar. in #2, I'd wager the dynamic range is virtually identical.

You need a scene with more contrast to make full use of HDR as a tool. If all you were going for was oversaturation, you don't need to go through all the trouble of combining three images to do that. Theres a slider in lightroom and an adjustment in photoshop. Take your pick.
