I had my first kid shoot today!
It was for a friend of a friend whom I had never met, but it went pretty well and they were super nice.
I told them I would do the shoot for free, as I am trying to build a portfolio. She told me she wanted "different" shots, as her previous portraits were done at kmart with corny backdrops. She wanted to do the shoot in her front yard, which kind of sucked being that she had a tiny yard with with tons of distractions in the background, (she lives in the suburbs), but we had fun with it anyways. I am hoping this leads to some more gigs because I could sure use the practice. Here are a couple I liked. Any pointers are greatly appreciated, let me have it!

I noticed that there is a strange lens flare on her face in the last one here, that brightens up her face a bit. Do you think the flare, combined with the fact that the houses are visible in the background, kills this photo?

Fun shuff, great shots. The quality the 5DMKII brings to photos is unreal. I have been making a study and I can almost always tel when shots have been taking with that camera VS a crop body.

I know the camera doesn't make the photographer but dang that is one sweet camera and it puts out rich images like a goose laying golden eggs.

I think I have a dream forming, it goes something like this, Sell one kid get the 5DMKII, Sell another kid get the 85L MKII, Sell the wife get the 135L then move so they can't return the wife lol

RPCRUAB, so it's not just me, that thing really does have that much more color detail in it? Good to know, my scheme to sell the family off is full steam ahead.

All very nice images...good work. To nick pick a little (that's all it is as the images you posted work very well), with #1 I would crop a tad tighter to remove some of the area above her head. And the color seems just a tad off on #2. Love the last one the best. Again, all of these work very well. :D She should be very happy with those.
