Ok so now that i have a camera on the way (hopefully i do)...
i need a bag...i prefer a backpack and looking at all the flipside articles on this site... it is interesting..

few reviews - very helpfull...
alot of FS - why - seems not big enough
few wtb - ok so the demand is still there...

now when my family goes out we pack a backpack... usually with a few water bottles, snacks and the sort.... well if i carry my camera with me... i want to add it to a backpack...

i see people saying the 300 is too small... i will have a canon t2i, 18-55, 70-300 and that is it for now.... is there enough room for the rest of what i want to carry?
also is snacks and water a bad idea to even have near this bag?

the 300 can be had for about $65 where the 400 is about $100-$120....

we also will put our gear in a locker (usually not that big) when we go to say water parks so im not sure that the 400 will be the right one due to size....

anyone have experience of putting a 400 in a locker at a park? some parks do not have the normal square locker and the long one... usually just the small square one...

For your camera, the Flipside 300 should be fine. My Flipside 300 fit my Canon 7D, Canon 16-35L, Canon 24-70L, Canon 85/1.8, Canon 100/2.8 macro, lens hoods (separate slot), and a canon 580exII flash. I had to get a new bag, since my configuration couldn't fit the camera with a battery grip. I didn't like pulling the camera from the bottom, near the fold, since it was hard to get out. Plus the lid kept wanting to close, which got to be a PITA. I recently got the Crumpler Karachi Outpost (large), which fits it perfectly, including my canon 100-400L. Of course, now the bag is too small, since I also want to fit my Canon 70-200/2.8 IS II in the same bag.

The Flipside 300 has a pocket on the side for a water bottle and a zippered pocket on the other side for memory cards, pens, etc. As far as it fitting in the locker, it should, but depends on the dimensions of the locker. Also may depend if you want to keep the camera gear in the bag if you put it in the locker.

The flipside 300 will suit your needs. the 400 will be overkill.

I have fit my flipside 300 in the square locker ones and it Barely fit so the 400 would probably have a difficult time in the same situation.

Both bags are aimed for two different people: the flipside 300 is more for hobbyist/prosumers who shoot with one body while the flipside 400 caters to the more serious photographer who HAS to lug everything in one bag regardless of how it will kill the back at the end of the day.

If you are ever planning on adding a grip then the 300 will be a little too tight. I know you didn't mention a grip but I have the 300 and when I put a grip on my 7D I had to get the 400 so it would fit. On the 300 the hotshoe will stick up and poke you in the back. If you have a local store I would recommend taking all your gear in there and seeing how it fits. Buying a bag can be a frustrating process!

I have both 300 and 400. I would suggest 400 for your future planning/purchase. I placed my 5D2 with grip, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200, one flash into flipside 400 and i find it very tight due to the large lens hoods.

The advantages of having 400 is such that you will have another zipped compartment to store your extra things like blower, microfibres clothes, lenspen etc. Where 300 has only a very small zip bag in the camera compartment to store them.

400 also offer all weather protection. It comes with a rain coat to protect your gears from rains and snows. It also comes with a wider waist belt and better padding to comfort your back.

I wouldnt suggest food and water inside your camera bag! You should know they are the source of nutirents thus fungus if not handle properly.

Another thing is how tall are you? I find that 300 looks very tiny on some big man, which can be funny sometime.

have a nice day!
