I just bought a used g9 from the internet. It works great, but the only memory card that I can use is the 32mb card that came with it. I have a 4gb and 8gb SDHC that when I put them in it says "Memory card error".
At first I thought the card was the issue, but now i'm switching to maybe i'm not doing something with the camera before I put the card in or maybe it's a faulty camera.
Is it the camera or the card that has the problem?
Any advice welcome, Thank-you.

Could be that G9 only supports standard SD cards ? They max out at 2 GBytes. Anything bigger is technically an SDHC, or High capacity SD card. Just guessing as I don't have a G9. I know my 10D will not function properly with big CF cards.

How are the newer cards formatted? Sometimes if you format them on your PC, it will change the file system and the camera won't recognize it.

Try formatting them on the PC and make sure they're FAT32 formatted. Then it's best to only format in-camera.

Also make sure the little "lock" on the side of the card isn't on.

I'm assuming the cards work in other devices.

Yeah they work in other cameras, just not with this one. I'll try formatting it in the PC and see what happens.
Thank you
