Is my YN460 Broken?

So I recently purchased the YN460 flash, the YN RF602 wireless trigger and a lightstand / umbrella. I'm having trouble using the flash as it decides to work sometimes and bonk other times.

I attach the trigger to the camera while its off. Turn the camera on and then the receiver on, then I attach the flash in the off position then turn that on. The first shot usually works but then its hit or miss. I messed around by pushing the button on the trigger and the respective light on the receiver blinks so I know there's no communication issue... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. If I hit the "pilot" button on the flash just to test it, it goes off fine as well.

So somewhere along the line there is an issue that I'm not seeing... anyone have any insight? I've messed around with manual and S1 / 2 modes as well as various intensities. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I had a similar problem but with my 430ex and RF-602, It would work sometimes and some times it just did not want to work. I took it apart and noticed that one of the wires had a bad solder connection, I re soldered it and it works great after that. So just try to open it and inspect it, its really not that hard to open them its only a few screws.

I would try the flash directly on the camera and see if there is a problem, it may be the triggers.

But when I push the button on the trigger the receiver lights up as well so it seems there is good communication...

the signal might be fine with out a flash on it, thats how mine was. It worked with out a flash, but as soon as it was connected it acted up.
