ND Filter making purple spots in my picture

It was 95 degrees outside and I just got my filter, so I decided to take some pictures of the sun. No other filters, only the 10 stop ND filter and this is what I got.
I was just playing around, but I would like to know what caused this.

First image is is just a sun dot

Looks like your run-of-the-mill lens flare to me.

Shooting straight into the sun always is a sure-fire way to get flare. It depends on the optics you use (lens + filter(s)).
