maybe im just paranoid, lol. if you have a l358 kindly try it yourself, if you turn it onn run the mode and stop to sun mode. put the meter like alsmot in your ear. maybe its too silent last night in my basement that i can hear it functioning.

My L-358 has always had a very low volume tone coming from it when turned on. I have to put it right up to my ear to hear it in a normal home environment.

By the way, my L-358 is eight to ten years old to the best of my recollection.

wow...thanks a lot. Now I have to go listen to mine. Hope it doesn't make a noise as I have never heard it before. If it does, I think it will drive me crazy!

OK - I just tried mine and hear nothing. But I also have a Cobalt 16 in each ear. (The result of a misguided youth and too many firearms).

I guess I never actually listened to my L-358 when I had one. I now use an L-758DR and I've never heard a peep from that one either. :D

Mine makes noise only when the backlight is lit.

That makes sense, as I always have my backlight lit and mine always has the little squeal.
