Hey guys, I always see these threads and they piss me off, but I need help and you guys are so darn helpful. I just sold my Nifty fifty and I want to buy something wider, F2.8 or less is a must and it should be around $200 I would rather it be a newer lens and a EF mount, I plan to upgrade to a 5d in the future. Thanks all!

Ok, scratch that then, converting this question to is it worth it to trade the 70-200 F4L IS for a 24-70 f2.8L?

your best bet at getting that is finding an old oil lamp...and start rubbing...

as far as whether it's worth it or not...how often do you use the 70-200mm...you can run exposure plot to see where your shots are at...see how much you'd be missing out on...

if i were you i'd probably just go for a tamron 28-70mm f2.8, and keep the 70-200mm...it'll be more than you want to spend...but most lenses will

I recommend keeping the 70-200 and buying a used Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 zoom lens. I bought mine for $270. It was actually $300 but I saved 8% using Bing cashback and 2% with eBay bucks. For twice the price it would still be an excellent lens for use with a 5D.

For the 70-200, if you don't need 2.8, the f4 IS is very sharp and IS is nice.

Unfortunately eBay hasn't had 8% BCB for about half a month now.

Ain't got nothin' for what you changed your question to, but for this one, it's not $200, but you can find it for <$400, and it's F/2.8 and super wide, FF capable: Samyang 14.

NO.

The 24-70 is definitely not a replacement for the 70-200. However, they complement each other extremely well. Keep the 70-200 and save for a 24-70.
