I have a family portrait to take in 3 days, there is 35 people. There is a old bridge where they live, they want to have this taken there. The sun would be directly behind them with no shade. This is going to take place about 10:30 in the morning. My question, do you think i will need some alien bee for lighting up there faces since the sun is at there backs??

Canon 20D (with grip), Canon 40d, Canon L 24-70mm,Canon 50mm 1.4, Canon 85mm 1.8, 70-200mm 2.8 L, 580 ex speedflash, 2 AB800, 2 softboxes, 4 strobes, backdrops, flash bracket, reflectors and other misc....

If the sun is behind them, you are shooting into the sun. Not good for your lens. Yes you will need additional light. Went shooting outdoor portraits, I try to shoot when the sun is directly above unless you want that sun glare. That look does good in some pictures. Probably not the best look for a portrait with 35 people.
