Thanks everyone for the responses. I had been told by someone that no one uses Canon UV filters cause they're so expensive. Lol!
Oh, and here's me hoping the UV people do in fact wake up feisty so I can hear their side... :)

As far as I know, there are no multi-coated Tiffen filters. Because of this, you really can't expect much.

Common misconception on here that multi-coated = good, non-coated = bad. I will tell you flat out that the best filters that I have ever used (Singh-Ray and Lee) are not coated and are as good as you will ever find.

Three things that Canon has not been able to figure out how to make: Pods, Bags, and Filters. Odd, but true.

It's ironic that they make great lenses, yet don't bother making their own filters.

I use UV filters on everything (B&W exclusively)...I do a lot of hiking and travelling and I used to shoot a lot of news, so my lenses are potentially exposed to a lot more than someone shooting flowers or indoor portraits.

One I was shooting a grizzly when some guy showed up with a bear bang and shot it off to scare the bear...the girl standing next to me was holding a hiking stick and jumped when the bear bang went off, bashing the end of it into my old lens, leaving a huge smear on the UV filter...I shudder to think what would have happened if it wasn't there.

I just got back into film stuff and don't yet have UV filters for all my lenses...and I hate the feeling that at anytime anything can mess up my lens...

Totally my thought, and the reason I started the thread! I mean, talk about a related market right?

My thought is that Canon doesn't see the filter market being profitable considering the competition???

However, if they were to partner up with someone, why Tiffen and not B+W, Heliopan, or even Hoya? Oh well, it is what it is.
