Problem with 60mm Macro setup

Hello folks,

I am facing a problem with my setup that I hope to get some suggestions on...

I use Canon 60mm for a quite a bit of Macro photography in conjunction with 430EX flash and Lumiquest softbox (external link), however given the small size of the lens (and small working distance), the flash light falls beyond the subject (at least a part of it) :(

Can you suggest what my options are - I do want to keep the setup light :)

get the flash off camera. Having a second flash. Some sort of diffuser, Bounce the flash so that it can get light onto the subject. Make one of those ring flash converter from a normal flash.

Thanks for the response folks!

I want to stick with regular flash instead of ring flash (has to do with difference in lighting they produce).

However I would like to hear thoughts on any compact bracket, or even snoot kind of diffuser that can help light reach the subject better and experience people may have with these.

You should be able to get plenty of ideas for off-camera flash and diffusers.

G'Jim c):{- ... 2x 50D (Both Gripped), 2x 7D (Both Gripped), 2x 5D Mk II (One gripped), 1x 60D, assorted glass (10-800mm), sundry accoutrements.
The beginner clicks the shutter and says "Let's see what I got." ... The experienced photographer thinks "How can I capture what I see?"

like mentionned already, get a flash bracket and all will be well.
