I have a 40d that started having CF card format error issues 9 months after purchase. Called Canon, they asked that I send it in for warranty repair. I left the camera with my bro-in-law who was supposed to send it in. He was preoccupied with school, I was preoccupied with my new baby and the camera did not get sent in.
Fast forward 9 months:
I found the camera in a box at bros house. Camera is 6 months out of warranty. I sent it in with a letter explaining the situation. They advised that repair would normally be $240, but they took care of it for no charge.
Canon has EARNED a customer for life!
