I went for a poke about on this very damp morning in southern UK. I saw lots of tiny things, which I believe are psocids (thanks to Racketman for pointing me at the ID). There seems to be a spread in maturity, and possibly different species, though I've no idea about that. Here's a selection:
1. This was the most numerous sort, about 2-3mm long, yellow with a darker abdomen and embyonic wings.
2. This looks like it's probably the same thing but an earlier instar.
3, When I saw this I couldn't tell what I was looking at. It was only on studying the image on the computer I realised it seemed to be an emergence from one instar to the next. Not a very good shot and cropped from the original, but the only one I have showing this activity.
4. One with full wings. This and the previous were on the plastic gutter of my shed.
5. While looking at these I saw a strange thing I haven't seen before. It looked superficially like a tiny woodlouse, but it only has six legs and its body is not segmented. Any ideas what it is? Notice in the bottom right the wing of yet another psocid.
6.
