Narrow Depth of Field Vew Finder?

I read somewhere that there is an accessory viewfinder for our cameras (I have a T2i) that creates a narrower depth of field, helping you focus in on a specific area better.

Apparently one of the drawbacks is a darker viewfinder when using slower lenses, but that's acceptable to me.

Does this product exist or am I dreaming?

I should probably elaborate that it narrows the depth of field of the viewfinder (not the actual shot). It is just to help focus, since most view finders leave more in focus than the actual lens does.

I cannot see what benefit one would achieve by narrowing the depth of field of the viewfinder.

If you want to check focus and depth of field use your depth of field preview button on the camera.

S-series focusing screens will do that. However, they are not available for Rebel cameras.

Ok, so I am not dreaming!

Could you possibly link me to the product?

It's unfortunate they aren't available for rebel but I would like to have the link on file.

just do a search for ef-s focusing screens. I wouldn't say it really helps with seeing DoF (or does it) but they make manual focusing a lot easier

They do make focusing easier, but they are not split prism screens.

My mistake, I must have been misinformed

BTW you can get aftermarket focussing screens for the Rebels and X0Ds (and probably the 1000D too), just not official ones from Canon and they take a tiny bit longer to swap out due to the clip being less accessible. Katzeye supposedly make really decent screens but they cost a fair bit, I've had good results with a cheap one off Ebay in my 20D (45° double split prism).
