Hey guys, I need your help. I'm getting a 430EXII and some other equipments. The other stuff I'm getting will be a wired/wireless shutter release system but I do not know which one to get. I was thinking about getting the RC-1 but you have to be in front of the camera in order for the remote to work which is a downside. Are there any Canon brand or any well built third party brand that has an effective wireless shutter release trigger that works behind the camera? Budget is around 40-50

btw, are there any good alternatives to the 7d battery besides canon's LP-E6 battery? I think $70 is a bit too much for a battery

POTN Shop - the 7D doesn't do IR, IIRC so hte RC-1's a non-starter. The POTN Shop remotes work well.

Why 2 third-party rather than one Canon? Life of the batteries, in my experience, is so good that more than one spare's just an extra bit of weight and bulk.

I wouldn't know, I was just assuming. But can you tell me a good wireless shutter release remote? Which ones are compatible with the 7D and works with speedlites.

Yongnuo RF602 like what the other member suggested. YOu can use both as a shutter release and wireless trigger for off cam flash. The only thing is that you'll have to order it from Hong Kong which takes about a couple of weeks to get here.

also, do you have to put the trigger on the hot shoe to make it wireless? So I cannot put my speedlite on the camera or is there another hotshoe on the transmitter?

Works with Speedlites? You mean to trigger the flash directly? Any remote shutter release will trigger the camera and let the camera fire your flash, either via Remote E-TTL or some separate flash remote triggers.

If you want to be able to fire the flashes separately from the camera, you'd want something like PocketWizards. With the appropriate cable they will fire either.

ahhh I see. Thanks a lot for your help. I wanted to get the Phottix Cleon but Teamspeed ran out. I'll probably get the Yongnuo-RF602 but those couple weeks of waiting will be nerve wracking. Really wanted to try some strobing before school started but I guess that's how it goes.

btw, what are some Canon brand remotes that work?

to trigger the shutter wirelessly - NONE
to trigger a flash - Canon STE-2, but i wouldnt get it. it triggers the flash wirelessly with IR. you'll have misfires with this when using outdoors.

+1 to the POTN shop remotes. I have both the wired and wireless, and both of them work very well. The price is right and I didn't have to deal with eBay and/or wait for them to be shipped to me from the Far East. The wireless one is radio-triggered and doesn't require you to be in front of (or even in the same room with!) the camera.

Maximal batteries on ebay cost $23 each and work like the OEM battery...

It works with the 7d?

btw, would this diffuser work on the 430 EX II? I just want to make sure if they are talking about the mkII or mkI
