I took some shots at ISO5000 (wanted 6400 but made mistake) but they look pretty good, better than my old 5d. DOn't know why folks sometimes complain about high ISO noise of 7d.

High ISO noise is great, especialy for a crop.

Mid ISO noise isnt so good, I find I keep thinking ISO 400 and 800 are nosier than they should be, but clean up well.

ISO 100 isnt very clean either but still, image wise it looks OK

I think my 7D has some unbalanced green channel issues and this also causes(?) the faint banding too.

The T2i is about the same. Incredible.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

People complain because they look at the 6400 shots @ 100%. Of course they look crappy viewed that way.

Nice but that shot didn't need to be 1/1000th shutter speed. I'm assuming there were other action shots you were taking, hence the high speed but I bet 1/500th 3200 or 1/250th 1600 could have worked as well in this particular shot of a clown holding his hand above his head.

Great colors though! Too bad about the background clutter but it is tough to get the right position from the stands unfortunately.

Somehow I could never get usable images @ISO6400 on my 7D...that forced me to upgrade.

I also had to crop some, and may be that was where it actually shows some noise. But I hated ISO 3200+ performance on 7D.

How can you brag about the high ISO image quality when the image has been reduced in size so much that the noise has been completely averaged away?

Yeah, the 7D is night and day compared to my older crop pentax K20D.

Because a lot of noise disappears when the files are printed, assuming you don't print them too large. And my 400d produces files that visibly lack dynamic range at ISO 1600, whereas files from my friend's 550d still look good.

I have not yet done extensive testing at high ISOs with my 7D, because it's still new. But the limited testing I've done showed incredible colors and way less noise than I expected. At higher ISOs like 1600 or 3200, the 7D was quite a bit better than my 20D was -- the difference 1/2 decade of technology development makes!

Otherwise, I have been impressed with color rendering and the generally low-noise levels for ISOs < 500.

Yup, my 7d blows away my 5d Mark II at ISO6400 and above.

Because it is worth bragging about, an 18mpx APS-C that does quite well.

Unprocessed image with 100% crop, then same processed with a bit of noiseware...
