Check my logic - upgrade considerations.

So, I am sort of tossing around the idea of upgrading my 50D to a 5DII. Based on my current lens inventory, I'd have two "crop" sensor only lenses, the Sigma 30mm which I have not owned long at all, and the Tamron 18-270. Everything else I own would be "compatible" with the 5DII, right? However, If I went that direction, I'd then immediately be missing that mid-range zoom length (anything longer than 75mm (up to my SigmOS) which would now seem even shorter due to the lack of a crop factor).

Anything I'm missing there? If I did this, I'd then be looking at selling my Sigma 30mm, Tamron 18-270, and my 50D.

General thoughts?

why do you want to switch anyways?...

i see the 150-500mm and that makes me think you want/need reach...going FF would hurt that

i'd guess you're not into landscapes with your gear list(could easily be wrong)...so you wouldn't need the benefit of FF there either...

so i'd assume you are doing it for portraits?

I may just have upgraditis. I've been eyeing the 7D and 5DII. I then kind of arrived at the conclusion that if I'm going to upgrade, go FF. Mostly I shoot people ("portraits" and candid), still life, and wildlife.

One of the 70-200L's would fill that gap perfectly.

The 50D is an awesome camera. Spending money on the 5D2 for nothing is a waste. Consider what you need, then choose a camera body to suit.

PS: Your needs should be based on what you shoot.

Thanks. I'll keep the 50D and wait for some compelling reason (i.e. my camera literally doesn't do what I need) rather than just a general desire.
