I screwed my Hoya ND8 on to the lens, then I screwed my Lee wide angle adaptor ring on to the ND filter... Now the adaptor ring is completely stuck to the ND8. Any tips? I tried using something we call "plumper pliers" here in Norway, but it didn't work. I don't care about the ND filter, I just need the adaptor ring!

all help is appreciated!

Cheers

Try running them under hot or cold water for a minute; they might expand/contract at different rates and make them easier to separate. Or maybe harder :p
Good luck.

That looks like a good idea. Years ago, when we all used thin leather or plastic camera straps, the common advice was to wrap a strap around each filter (or adaptor) and then use them as a grip to turn the filters. This just looks like the modern version of using a camera strap around each filter, and would give some more leverage.

When my 77mm cpl got stuck on my 67mm adapter ring I used two fat rubber bands one wrapped around the filter and one around the adapter. Now I have several rubber bands in my bag. Worked great.

In keeping with the same idea as using two objects to increase torque, I love these plastic lens filter wrenches; they work really well too:

Of course, rubber bands are great in a pinch as well.

I got it off....finally! Had to use a vise (or vice?) we had in our forklift garage at work, but it came off. The ND is in the bin now, but I don't care...it's easy to get a new one here, the adaptor rings has to be ordered from England and takes forever.

PS: The problem I had was that I use a Lee wide angle adaptor ring. It screws on the lens in such a way that it kinda wraps backwards over the lens to avoid vignetting when attaching the filter rig. When I then screwed it onto the ND filter the ND filter was kinda cradled within the adaptorring in such a way that when you looked at them from the side, only about half a millimeter of the filter threads on the ND was visible. That meant using lid openers and such wasn't possible, that's only doable of you have two filters attached to each other or similar. But luckily we had the right tools in our terminal here.

Anyways: Thanks for all the good suggestions! Really appreciate it. :)
