The original destination for two Saturday's ago was the Lake Superior Beach sea arch in Tettagouche park. I didnt get up early enough to make it so I cut my losses and got the images from the "5 AM...Where Were You?" thread at Gooseberry Falls.

I went there after the sunrise and got the snapshot below, figured Id come back the next Saturday and get up a bit earlier to get the shot I wanted.

To my dismay, I arrived to find the arch is it is seen below. Talk about kicking yourself for not waking up 20 minutes earlier - the shot I wanted is now gone forever...

That's a bummer. The sea is but sole judge and jury.

Yeah, it's gone. But I believe that 2 and 3 are beautiful pictures regardless, and now you have a very interesting isolated rock. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Landscapes are changing all the time, thus you must be willing to change as well! :D

If it's any consolation, I still think your photos turned out wonderfully.

Thanks guys - and you're right, Todd. Nothing we could do to stop it - nor would we want to if we could.

On the bright side, I suppose I may have the first image ever of the rocks in their new formation. Park officials are speculating it occured on Friday night and I was there at 5:30 AM on Saturday.

One of the great aspects of landscape photography is the changing landscape.

Turn your feelings around, and say this.

"I captured one of the first images of this landscape ever!!"

just a few of my thoughts...

Yah, this is the best way to think about it I guess. On the brighter side, it did get "published" on Minnesota Public Radio's website in their article about the landmark.
