Today is a sad day. I finally but regretfully sold my 135L. Colors,saturation,bokeh,build,weight...this lens has it all. But for someone on a budget, I simply can't afford to keep this and buy another long focal range type of lens. So my eyes are set on a 85 1.2 MII or a 70-200 2.8 IS MII soon. I left the 70-200 f/4 out of the equation because at times, I love the blur effects a 2.8 or lower apertures creates.

I mainly shoot portraits, models and will possibly get into engagement sessions soon. What do you think will be a better replacement? I have absolutely nothing but a 24LII at the moment.

Thanks

tough call. having owned 2.8IS 1, 85 1.2, and 135 L, the good news is that the 135 was my least favorite. I sold it, and held on to the other 2. the 7-2 2.8 IS is the more practical and versatile, and the one I would recommend. 85 1.2 is a magical lens, but the other lens is your more bread and butter lens.

Thanks. Was the 85 1.2's focusing an issue to you?

No focusing issue with 85 1.2. I have the MkII. Love that lens. Taken some of my favorite images with it, but mostly b/c I use it indoors for family images, when even 2.8 is too slow. However, I have been quite happy with 2.8IS, and the newer one has better IS, and is even sharper.

You won't miss the 135 once you own the 85L. It wow's me everytime I use it. I love that lens.

See, that's my problem. I have been spoiled by a 2.0 aperture. My last 2.8 (24-70) was too slow for me, thats why I have been thinking about the 85 1.2 but OTOH, 70-200's versatility cannot be replaced by a prime.

I saw the pictures you took of your son Alex. did you use your 85L for that one? You have the 85L mark I correct?
