Battery grip for original Digital Rebel

I believe the BG-E1 fit the original (6.3 mp) Digital Rebel, but it only took 2 rechargeable battery packs, not AAs. Does anyone know if there was ever an after-market battery grip made for the Digital Rebel that took AA batteries?

I'm currently using an XSi with a battery grip, and can't afford a second body and grip right now. I haven't used the Digital Rebel in several years, but I would like to have it as a back-up body. Since I prefer AA lithiums so I don't need to worry about charging, I'm trying to find a battery grip that will fit.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Check this out. http://www.amazon.com …tails?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= (external link)

It appears to also have the tray for the 6 AA's. I remember my old grip for my XTI came with a two trays, one for AA batteries.

Here is another with free shipping that states that it comes with the AA tray.

I think the OP is looking for a battery grip that holds AA batteries for the original Digital Rebel (300D), not the XT/XTi.

Opps, sorry about that. I thought it said Rebel XT.

Correct- and that's exactly the problem. They're easily obtainable for the later models. I know Canon's only worked with 1 or 2 rechargeable packs- the same ones the camera took on its own- but I don't know if any aftermarket AA grips were ever produced. It's a decent camera, just not nearly as versatile as all the new models!

I actually don't remember seeing such a thing for the 300D, which is why I got the BG-E1. But the battery isn't that expensive for the camera, so you might just pic up some extra ones.

for what you will pay for a aftermarket grip , even if they ever make one for the 300d will cost more than a couple of batteries from sterling ...

i think if it's just for your backup, get some extra regular batteries. why spend all that money on a grip that you'll hopefully never have to use? if you actually need a grip, that's different. but if you're looking for a grip just to use AA, i wouldn't bother.
