Just wondering which would be best, I've read many suggestions, still can't decide.

I will be using LR 3 and CS5. 5DII and 7D RAW files. My current HP is just to slow to process the RAW files anymore.

I'm thinking about 15 inch MBP

1. i5 or i7 - some said i5 and save some money. Currently only images and no video processing, but maybe one day I might start processing video. ???
2. 5400rpm or 7200 rpm - some said upgrade by yourself and get better quality HDD. If I were to do this, do I need to get the OS to install it?
3. is the Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display worth it?
4. Should I get Applecare?

5. any other suggestions????

Thanks

Simply, buy the best you can afford!

Hi res is fantastic more real estate.

Applecare is worth every single penny especially at the student price. I paid £50-something for my three year cover with student discount. I get more peace of mind and fantastic customer services which I have had to use.

If you can't afford i7, i5 will be fine.

Speed-wise, 7200rpm is more critical for video...but if the price difference is negligible for the drives you're looking at, you might as well go with 7200.

One thing to keep in mind is that the hard drives Apple uses have a sudden-motion sensor. Most drives don't.

All Macs come with the OS CD. And a new SL CD is only $30 anyway....

3. is the Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display worth it?

Depends on your preferences. Go to an Apple Store and try it out. I would get it just for the matte screen, but that's me.

4. Should I get Applecare?

Yes. You have until the end of the one-year warranty to purchase it, though, so no need to buy it now if you're not sure.

How do you get student discount on applecare? does it have to be in store only.

Online price showed $239. I could get the $200 off and offer for the free ipod touch.

thanks
