Hi! I'm new here!

First off, hello! I recently made the decision to dive on into the wild world of photography, and have been lurking here for a bit to try and understand the differences between your P&S cameras and your SLR's and man am I scared/excited!

I just ordered a T1i and a Canon 50mm 1.4 to get my feet wet. I am looking to do a lot of portrait work, but would like to move into shooting indoor sports. But until I figure what the heck I am doing with just the prime lens, I will sit tight on looking into a nice zoom lens that can handle low light, but am open to any suggestions in the mean time!

Also, when it comes to buying/selling, I have positive feedback on a guitar site I belong to and 100% on ebay (nvmystuff). Thanks!

Shoot a lot then read it again. Learn to use manual settings. Take pictures with different exposure settings. Make mistakes then learn from them. Practice might not make perfect but it does make better.

For lens questions, you might want to browse the EOS lens forum. If you aren't following that forum, you'll be missing a lot of good info on lenses...
