what i think is funny is the judging of how the brick wall is stupid yet on this creative follow along wedding video she just shot the bride and groom in front of a wall almost identical to mine. thought that was funny.

As for the person asking what part of IN i live in its south bend IN. Home of Notre Dame!!

She was shooting at F1.2 so the wall is out of focus which creates lovely abstract patterns, you can't do that when shooting at F5.6.
Also her wall was white as well as a nice shade of red.

Funny? No. She has the talent and the moxie to LET people know what she wants them to do.you are not even that close.....nothing personal.I am not even that close..

BUT..I do not promote myself as a photographer of ALL things special and precious...its ego boosting.and gets you nowhere.

The WALL...really? They took 10 poses..did you see how MANY shots were fired off.WITH a Second shooter? The couple took no more than 5 steps either way to make the shot.TEN POSES.with how many shots per pose?[and her dress stayed clean...hhmmmmmmm..and she can photoshop , most likely will. another background. Are you able to do that?

Did you really watch the entire video? She talked about all her settings.did you understand them? Bother to figure out what your camera settings are capable of?

That fact that you only thought about mentioning the Brick Wall.well it makes me giggle.

Respect others,.you have a very long road to travel.

yes i know all about my camera settings and i shoot mainly in manual. I don't care if my background sucks. if the customer likes it thats whats important. doesn't make someone a bad photographer cause of the customers choice of location.
Im done with this topic and most of the people here. all a bunch of arrogant rude people.
This has turned into a bash the T. Saying you could do better with a pint and shott. prove it and go do it.

LOK - you posted in here asking for critique. That's exactly what you got. Please try not to be so defensive... I've posted in here before and had my photo deconstructed and while I wasn't happy at the time, the person who did the critiquing was right. Now, 2 years on, when I look back at the photos I was really happy with at the time I cringe... I can find even more flaws in them!

You are getting paid for your photography which is a good thing, but (after looking through your gallery) you do have room for improvement. That's not a dig at you - everyone has room for improvement. The important thing is that you try to detach yourself emotionally from your work for a moment and listen to what people are saying to you.

If you don't want any feedback at all then continue as you are and don't ask for it.

Saying you could do better with a pint and shott

You know, I could do with a pint and shot right now, I've had a horrible week! :)

if the customer likes it thats whats important. doesn't make someone a bad photographer cause of the customers choice of location.

Just going on that last comment,

I'm no wedding photographer, but I have been in the wedding industry for years, on the entertainment side...

The only thing I can say is, the customer isn't always right. I know that doesn't sound right, but its true. On their wedding day, they're much too busy/worried/anxious etc. to really know what needs to be done, or what's right, they just want it done so they don't have anything else to worry about.

Many a time we've been asked by the couples to setup in a specific place or not to play certain songs, yet when we've moved into a different place, and played 'that song' we've done it because it fitted with the moment, and what we thought professionally would look and sound good with the event. Each and every time, the couples come back to speak to us at the end of the night, not to complain, but to say 'The band looked great where they were, we'd never have thought of using the room like that' or 'I'm actually really glad you played that song'.

What i'm trying to get at is, although the couple have said that this is where they want their pictures taken, maybe you need to take a more assertive role, (obviously not be rude! :) ) but just say, 'this is nice, but if we take a little walk down here, there are some lovely trees that would just look perfect' etc.

Just my 2cents..

^^ To add to your point, it's the exact same as if they have poses in mind and want to only do their idea. But you know they suck and will look weird/bad once printed. What would you do? Suggest new ones or go with theirs?

LOKPhotography, you should be able to accept criticism.

People are not saying your images suck, because they don't, they're just giving you advice on how to make your images better.... Sometimes i post and get some great replies... other times i post and my images are torn apart... lol but it helps...

Don't take anything on the internet THAT personal...

In this situation, if it were me, I'd do both shoots; the location they like and the one I believe is more suitable.

To the OP I am no wedding photographer but just a highly enthusiastic wildlife, one day portrait/Sports photographer. But all I can try and do is give you words of encouragement; KEEP AT IT, man just KEEP AT IT and don't give up. It's tough now but just keep at it and one day it will all just be second nature. When you really want something, you will be good at it. Oh for more encouragement please read the quote at the bottom of my signature. That's one of my encouragements. Don't let the people get you down and stay positive.

My critique would be for LOKPhotography to change his attitude. Everyone has room to improve not just you. But for some reason if you think your God's gift to photography I'm sorry to let you down. Believe it or not it takes a lot of work to learn all the finer details of good taking a good photograph and people are rarely born with the knowledge. You would beneifit from taking the time to learn such things especially if you are going to charge people for your work.

I am terrified to do a Wedding, due to the possibility of ruining someone's day......But hell, if I went out and got a "pint and shott" I could take better pictures and I am not the best poser. Since you are an "experienced professional Photographer", you should get a little more experience, or alot. And since you are so professional, why don't you actually pay for a website and make it look professional and clean?

I agree with the majority of the posts. Congratulations on booking 4 other weddings, but I am a beginner and even I know these pictures need a lot of work. You could have done a lot of retouching to make them look better. They appear to be taken from a point and shoot camera. There is not depth to the colors, the poses are awkward. Have you read any books on composition and lighting? I feels that's where you need the most improvement. Please don't take offense. I need to take classes like these as well because I want to produce the most amazing and artistic pictures I can.

i wouldn't be surprised if someone does post some pics from a point and shoot that are indeed better.

Don't post your pictures here if you are not willing to take any type of negative critique. It is called the critique corner, not the praise my pictures corner. If you were looking for something more positive you should have posted in the "wedding and other family events" I even linked it for you since you seem like the lazy type. People come in here to help others, whether you like it or not, this section is where people come to look for improvement, which may or may not include some type of harsh words to change what you do in your photos. Embrace it, don't reject it. If your plan is to reject any criticism, then please stop wasting these nice members' time and move along.
