Is there a general rule of thumb about how many pictures is too many to post on your photography blog? Some have the opinion that you should only do a 5-10 of best. While others (myself included) like to post alot....like the little details, etc. Mainly because I don't have a huge wedding portfolio, so when I do have a wedding, I like to show what I can do. Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks!!!

I only post 5-10 personally. Otherwise people get bored looking through piles and piles of photos..

Hi Aubre - like Mark I prefer to do around 5-10. Any larger than that and I start considering that a "gallery." With large numbers of photos you get into screen scrolling issues which I feel lends itself more to gallery layout, IMO.

What do you consider a lot? If they are really spectacular photos that do a fantastic job of showcasing exemplary work, then I'd say go for it. Otherwise people will just consider them tedious and possibly not want to return.

I do about 15 per wedding and 10 per portrait session. I might do multiple posts for a wedding (one post details and portraits, one post ceremony and reception or whatever) but otherwise like to stick to about 15.

I usually show 6-10, but occasionally I show up to 25.

I try to keep it between 6-8 photos for every wedding, regardless of how many I could post. Keeps it even for everyone so that couples don't have to wonder why their wedding has fewer pics than another.

I'm really tempted to post 100 or more from a wedding to give couples an idea of what a complete wedding would look like but with my blog format (blogger) I can't find a way to post a single photo that links to a slideshow .. so I'm afraid by posting a lot of separate pics in one post people will lose interest and click out.

The key has already been mentioned. As many as can keep it interesting. Remember you and the subjects are the only ones that really care about the images. Other customers will look till they get bored and move on. If they have to "move on" too may times they may not come back.

That is a good question and something I would love to know the answer to as well.

Screw numbers. Post ripping images. If it's 4 images -- post 4. If it's 75 -- post 75. My last wedding post had over 70 images (external link) -- most I ever posted but I never care about the number so I just did it.

Great images Bobby.

I notice that there was a bird photographer there as well ;)
