Did you know that the USB cable that comes with the 5DII is considerably longer than the one that comes with the 30D or the A80, or most USB devices that I can find.

It's close to twice the length making it quite useful for tethered shooting.

Is that so?

Oh, I wouldn't know, I buy those extension USB wires for my tethered shooting anyway ;)

Speaking of tethered shooting how is it on Lightroom 3?

Ha ha! I never would have known that had you not posted this as I never use the USB cables that come with my camera bodies. Since I have always used a memory card reader Ive just never need the included USB cable.

I assume it's a black one you've got there and it seems that they're normally longer than the white ones ;)

tethering via lightroom would still be slow (based on my experiences)

That's not useless. I haven't considered tethering, but now that you mention it. . . . . :)

I'm glad it maybe of use to someone :)

I needed to set up some tethered shooting in the evening and needed the longest cord I could find.

Bob

It would appear you've been down this path before, the shorter cable from the 30D was indeed white, while the 5D2 cable is black.

Although the rest of my cables are black and a similar length to the 30D one

Actually its very fast, your only limited by the transfer speed of the card/USB connection and the ability of your system to render the file.
In my case it's very fast, faster than importing a card full of photos all at once.
