On the 7D is there a way to enable the Hi-speed sync for the Built-in flash?

It shows this as an option in the camera's Menu
go to Menu then,
Flash control
Built-in flash func. setting
Shutter sync.

I see three options including Hi-speed sync but it's grayed-out. Is there a setting or additional option that needs to be enabled?

Thanks

Unfortunately you cannot set high speed synch with the on board flash. You need an external flash for this. See p117 of the manual:

You probably wouldn't want it anyway. HSS reduces power output and the on-board flash is not very powerful under any condition.
