yeah, i just pulled the trigger on the T2i. I just didn't see the price difference ($300) enough top justify it for the 60D. I opted to get the T2i battery grip and I think it's gonna be one bad lil machine! Oh, and picked up the Canon Pro9000 printer for FREE (after rebate) so I am stoked!!

I think the 60D was a pretty good release, but I didn't need the articulating screen and the lack of micro-adjust was the last straw.

I figured the $300 this would cost over the T2i would be ok. Its worth the $300 to me to have the AF Microadjustment feature. I was stunned to hear that they didn't include it!!! I just read an article that said the 60D has about the same high ISO image quality as the t2i (which is similar to the 7D). For someone that wants great IQ and can live without the Microadjustment feature, the T2i is starting to look like Canon's best bang for the buck camera.

I'm not pleased about the 60D.

It's for video and tripod work. The camera isn't always at eye-level.

My brief opinion - a little different than expected, though I did expect Canon to equip the body somewhere between the Rebel and the 7D. It is between the Rebel and the 7D, but I was expeciing it to be a little closer to the 7D.

Not quite my cup of tea, but it looks like it provides a lot for a decent price.

If you read through that thread I posted (and started)

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=910053

you will notice some people don't like change....even if it's good. The main argument is "it may break" It will be on more and more DSLRs because people like me and 75% (or more) others want it.

I don't like swing out versions, I don't see why we need that. I'm concerned with weight more than anything else, it moves so it MUST cost more. Yeah yeah, plastic body negated that, but not a trade I'd choose personally.

But I will say I LOVE Sony's implementation with the NEX series. Flips up and down but not "out". It's also super thin and solid... I'm hoping the canon version feels as solid, but I doubt it considering the G series doesn't.

swing out is the standard. i really don't see any camcorder doesn't do that (if any?)

i believe canon holds a patent or whatever of some sort that that's why nikon/sony has to do it this ridiculous (to many) way of going vertical.

the "it may break" argument is equally ridiculous. swing out LCD has been around in canon's p&s for years people, you don't hear people complain they break. and people complained G9 for not having one with a passion. jesus.

Oh, I get it, I just don't think I need it... And I'm not ****, I'm starting a conversation...

It seems that the general consensus is that they are a positive thing, and that they are here to stay...

When you shoot portrait mode, flipping out is equivalent to flipping up/down in landscape mode, so its really useful.
I had a articulating LCD in a Canon G1, 10 years ago and loved it for macros close to the ground and at odd angles. It took Canon 10 years to replicate this functionality in a dSLR.

I wouldn't doubt it when you say Canon has a patent that Nikon doesn't. Canon is consistently in the top 10 for the most patents produced world-wide every year. Nikon doesn't come close.

for a while people were expecting swing out LCD canon would be the only game in town, but nikon/sony found some ways to get around that, in a non-intuitive way however.

See above. Plastic has its advantages, metal body does not really have any.

With a 3lb lens on front and a 1.5lb flash up top a metal body should flex less.
