A diagram I drew up to help depict where Canon marketing is headed, I think it is pretty accurate, what do you think? Timeline obviously not drawn to scale, if I had a better drawing tool, I might have spent more time on it to make it more accurate in regards to release dates.

lots of people will argue 50D -> 7D, and 60D as some sort of adopted/cousin/nephew/orphan...

Stock up now. $750 or so @ will buy you a handful of 50Ds in the classifieds. :)

Yes and lets all watch the 7ds used price tank along with it. Canon does it again. Same stunt when they announced the 5DII and destroyed the market on the 1DsIII.

60D=7D- extra AF points and 2.4FPS. Now we know why the retail on the 7D has been dropping.

They are silly if they, based on Canon comments when the 7D came out. The 7D is a new line, and the 60D takes the xxD line down a new path to put some manufacturing/costs gaps between each of the lines. I will always takes Canon's words over that of others that presume to know what goes on behind the doors at Canon.

I have zero doubt that the 60D will sell quite well, especially once the street prices come down $100 or so after the initial launch.

I think it's well articulated! :D (I couldn't resist)

I shoot a bit of interior work, and the camera is always around navel height for the best "room feeling", and that's really taking a toll on my back. So a screen that can swivel.... looks good to me!

The 7D is currently priced $150 under its launch price almost 1 year ago (using B&H as a reference)? That is actually quite good, given the landscape of different bodies to choose from. The price drop is simply because of the age and waning demand since it has been out so long.

That being said, I leveraged 2 different instant rebates last October when I bought mine, and paid $100 less than the current B&H price. :) Sucks that the Bing rebate is gone...

So, now that we've posted 40 pages on one thread in 24 hours, let's move on and talk about the 70D.

Thank you. bw!

Only 12 pages from this perspective. :)

I am sure there is already a thread in the rumors section by now... ;)

This is the boat i'm now. I've got a 30D on it's last mile and i'm looking to get a new body. I love my 30D, so I really don't mind it. I'm gonna stay optimistic about it and really consider it.

swing out is the standard. i really don't see any camcorder doesn't do that (if any?)

why should they style DSLR screens around how video cameras do it though? Remember, video MUST stay in the same aspect the entire time....

and yeah, interiors where you HAVE to back the camera into a corner, for those it'd be nice too, great point!

No thank you. Thanks to the screen, the button layout blows now.

You know, you don't have to articulate it out from the body if you don't want to. I'm not a 60D fan or anything, but the articulating screen is non-issue if the resolution isn't dropped (which it wasn't). As for the whole button layout change, well, I think that was gonna happen one way or another to differentiate this line from that of the 7D from here on out.

40D's 50D's dropping in value as people want the 60D. Bring it on.

no it wasn't.

Well it was one of the deciding factors for me. Guess it's just a personal opinion, that's all.
